About
It all started when I was 15 years old. Music was the last thing on my mind, I had no natural rhythm nor any grace or dexterity. I stumbled into a music class purely because my father had an old guitar.
The teacher there forever changed my life.
Passion-centric and fun, music quickly grew into my biggest passion. Though i wasn’t a natural, the sheer love of playing took hold and wouldn’t put my instrument down. I soon moved from guitar into the bass and I never looked back.
Attending the Christchurch Jazz School in New Zealand and receiving a degree in Jazz performance, arranging and composition. I use this language to be creative across all styles and take my music in my travels across the globe. Playing festivals and rubbing shoulders with amazingly talented musicians from all walks of life, the hard work really paid off.
Returning the gift of music that was given to me, I quickly took to teaching myself. The passion-centric model has stuck with me from my youth and now it has developed into my own unique teaching style. Intertwining musical concepts with the music that my student loves, I create a practical and instantly actionable approach that gives a detailed understanding of the instrument and of music.
I have now been teaching for over a decade. A large majority of that has been working with the School Of Rock in Christchurch. I have taken students from day 1 of music, all the way through to competitions and performance level. Developing strong connections with y students is paramount, and all my lessons are tailored to the individuals needs whether it be with children, adults, groups or private lessons.
All for the love of music.
